Students of Department of Economics organized Eco-Voice over the pressing the issue of “Agriculture Challenges and Prospects in India” for the student of M.A. third semester 2024. The student lead event was conducted at the room no. 201 on 19 october, 2024.This event was organized by Dr. Shalini Singh and Dr. Ahuti Singh. In this event many students came up with their presentation on the several issues as agricultural. Fistly, Rural credt in India by Satendra Yadav. Satyendra Yadav highlighted the importance of rural credit in promoting agricultural and rural development. He discussed the two primary sources of credit: formal sources (banks, cooperatives) and informal sources (moneylenders, landlords). Government schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi and Kisan Credit Card provide direct financial support to farmers. Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) have also played a significant role in empowering rural communities. Yadav also addressed the interest rates, lack of financial literacy, and issues with credit quality. He emphasized the need for policy support, credit guarantees, cooperative movement, capacity building, and digital financial inclusion to address these challenges. Secondly, The Need for Rural Credit by Abhisheek Raj. He further emphasized the importance of rural credit in covering daily expenses for farming and personal needs. He also highlighted misconceptions regarding rural credit and discussed the different types of rural credit, including short-term, medium-term, and long-term credit. Third one presented by Anmol Pandey topic entitled “Beyond High-Yield Crops” Anmol Pandey argued that India’s focus on high-yield crops has led to a decline in nutritional value and a rise in malnutrition rates. He emphasized the need to diversify agricultural production and promote the cultivation of millets and other nutritious crops. Noor Mohammad focused the Land and Water Resources and discussed the crucial role of land and water resources in Indian agriculture. He highlighted the different types of agricultural land and soils in India, as well as the challenges of land ownership and land reforms. Mohammad also emphasized the  importance  of  sustainable  water management practices to address the water scarcity issue in Indian agriculture. The comprehensive overview of rural credit in India presented in this presentation which highlights the critical role it plays in supporting agricultural and rural development. While significant progress has been made in recent years, there is still a need to address the challenges faced by rural credit markets and promote sustainable agricultural practices. By focusing on a more balanced approach to agriculture, India can ensure food security, improve nutrition, and enhance the livelihoods of its rural population. All teachers of the economics department were present in it.
Students of Department of Economics organized Eco –voice over the pressing the issues of Viksit Bharat 2047, PM Mudra Yojna, Micro, small and medium enterprises, taxation, Expenditure on Nuclear energy for the students of B.A. fifth semester and B.A. third semester students for the year 2024. This student lead event was conducted at room no. 201 new building. This event was organized by Dr. Shalini Singh and Dr. Ahuti Singh. In this event many students came up with their presentations on the above mentioned issues. Prashant Tiwari and Ashutosh explored the critical role of MSME’s in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat and discussed the challenges faced by MSME’s sector. Kumar Harsh and Amay discussed the strategic importance of nuclear energy in meeting the country’s energy demands and its role in achieving energy security by 2047. Shivang Pandey and Kshitij analysed the changes introduced in the tax structure, including simplification of tax slabs and investments on infrastructure proposed in the Union Budget 2024-25. The event was a testament to the vibrant academic environment for the student. All teachers of the economics department were present in it.
Students of Department of Economics organized Eco-Voice over the pressing the issue of “Budget 2024” for the student of M.A. third semester 2024. The student lead event was conducted at the Econ lab on 3 August, 2024.This event was organized by Dr. Shalini Singh and Dr. Ahuti Singh. In this event many students came up with their presentation on the several issues as agricultural, MSMEs, Employment, Skilling, Human Resource Development etc. Mohit Jaiswal and Himanshu highlighted the importance of agriculture with the help of data analysis. While, Nitish and Ajay Sagar focused the Urbanization and infrastructure development in budget perspectives. He also pointed out the government policies on infrastructure development. Noor Mohammed and Rahul discussed some key points on employment and skilling, Raunak and Ramdev pointed out the human resource development. Saurabh and Anand Tiwari discussed the manufacturing and service sector. Brijlaxmi and Anu kumari explained the fiscal roadmap in budget 2024. Students had healthy, constructive and substantive discussions on the issues of Budget 2024. These healthy discussions will beneficial for the holistic development of students. All teachers of the economics department were present in it.
The Department of Economics, DAV PG College has started its second batch of 3 months self-financing certificate programme on Entrepreneurial Skills and Development Programme . On 30th November, 2023, inaugural and induction session of admitted students was conducted. The classes will start from December 1 , 2023 and will end on March 1 , 2023 .The students will study Entrepreneurial Skills, Communication and Data analysis as aa part of curriculum.

Students of Department of Economics of D.A.V.P.G. College conducted an online Pre-Budget Discussion via their student-led forum “ECO-VOICE”. In this event, the detailed discussions on the expectations of different sectors of Economy for coming general budget were held. Students presented their expectations from the general budget and also discussed the challenges ahead for the Ministry of Finance.

Notable presentations were given by Meghna Agarwal, Santosh Kumar Sharma, Srijan Srivastava, Shikhar Mani and Raja Kumar. The Presenters, Saurav Jha and Hrithik Singh too gave presentations respectively. In the event students tried to enlist, highlight and confer outlook for Education, Health, Defence, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Commerce, Industry, Taxation and other sectors of the Economy. On this occasion faculty members also put up their views regarding the discourse. Everyone agreed on the point that the Fiscal Deficit could rise in the coming year, government can make big announcement relating to health related services, lesser chances of tax exemptions, also for institutional
developments disinvestment can be done. Towards the closure of the event, intervention was made by Dr. Anup Kumar Mishra and Dr. Parul Jain on their expectation from the budget, in the end H.O.D. Dr. Vimal Shankar Singh in his oration emphasised that for raising demand investments should be made directly or indirectly in MSMEs so that more employment could be generated and hence the virtuous cycle can be maintained. In his oration he congratulated students for the successful organisation of the discourse and praised their efforts, he lauded Saurav Kr. Jha & Hrithik Singh for the well-coordinated compering and Vote Of Thanks, he also blessed students and encouraged them to organise such event in the coming future.

Students  of  Department  of  Economics  organized  Eco-Voice  over the pressing issue of  National  Education Policy, 2020. This  student  lead  event  was organized on zoom app on 12th of November 2020. This event was Presided by our Head of Department, Dr. Vimal Shankar Singh. In this event many students came up with their presentation on the issue. One of the students Vinay Kumar Gautam gave his opening presentation  highlighting benefits of the policy. Taking the presentation further Raja Kumar gave critical analysis of the policy which were concerned with conditions of government schools, inadequate number of teachers and related infrastructure of education sector of India. His arguments reflected some striking shortcomings in the policy which remains a problem of affordable education in India.

Saurav Km.Jha and Srijan Srivastava highlighted the importance of retrospective analysis of this policy with the existing one. While highlighting the benefits of the policy of the  government,  Hrithik Singh, one  of  the  participants, pressed over the fact that new education policy is having its striking similarities from Sustainable Development Goals Point 4  that  covers  the  aspect  of  universal  education  and literacy. He also pointed some serious unresolved  issues  concerning  skill development and vocational training initiatives presented in the policy by the government. In the end, our Head of Department Dr. Vimal Shankar Singh gave his concluding remarks where he complemented students for their informative presentations and shared points that need to be kept under consideration while analyzing a policy. He also gave comprehensive brief of the policy and also highlighted its critical aspect. He urged students that these constructive and substantive discussions on issues of national importance must happen as these are beneficial for holistic development of students.

देश के समग्र विकास के लिए कृषि और उद्योग दोनों क्षेत्रों को एक समान रूप से सहयोग की आवश्यकता है, दोनो एक दूसरे के पूरक तो है ही, पूरे देश की अर्थव्यवस्था इन्ही दोनों के विकास पर टिकी है। उक्त बातें बुधवार को डीएवी पीजी काॅलेज में अर्थशास्त्र विभाग के तत्वावधान में ‘केन्द्रीय बजटः 20-21 की दिशा एवं आयाम‘ विषय पर आयोजित पैनल परिचर्चा में बतौर मुख्य अतिथि इण्डियन इण्डस्ट्री एसोसिएशन के राष्ट्रीय उपाध्यक्ष एवं उद्यमी आर.के चैधरी ने कही। उन्होनें कहा कि आज आवश्यकता है कि सूक्ष्म, लघु एवं मध्यम स्तर के उद्योगों को सरकार ज्यादा से ज्यादा मजबूत करें तो सम्पूर्ण उद्योग जगत को लाभ मिल सकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार को उद्योगों में नियमों के सरलीकरण की ओर जल्द से जल्द ध्यान देना होगा तभी उद्यमी उत्पादन की ओर ध्यान दे पायेगा। बजट में कराधान व्यवस्था में स्थायी समाधान की बात भी उन्होंने कहा। विशिष्ट वक्ता काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय के वरिष्ठ प्रोफेसर भावेश विक्रम सिंह ने कृषि क्षेत्र पर प्रकाश डालते हुए कहा कि आम बजट में कृषि क्षेत्र में किसान संघों की स्थापना एक अच्छी पहल है, लेकिन इस बजट में कृषि क्षेत्र में किये गये अन्य प्रावधान किसानों की आय को आने वाले वर्षो में कम करने वाली होगी जो चिन्ता का विषय है।
विशिष्ट वक्ता एवं नगर के ख्यात चार्टेड एकाउण्टेन्ट जी.डी. दूबे ने सरकार द्वारा किये गये कर प्रावधानों में बदलाव का जिक्र करते हुए कहा कि आयकर में शुरू किया गया नया स्लैब आयकर के इतिहास में एक नई परिपाटी है। जीएसटी के प्रावधान अत्यन्त जटिल है, जिसमें सरलीकरण की आवश्यकता ज्यादा महसूस की जा रही है। वहीं उन्होंने कर्मचारियों के सम्बन्ध में बताया कि भविष्य निधि में नियोक्ता के योगदान पर 12 प्रतिशत या फिर 7 लाख तक की रकम को करमुक्त किया गया है, जो पहले पूरी तरह से करमुक्त थी। महिला महाविद्यालय की डाॅ. पद्मिनी रवीन्द्रनाथ ने कहा कि इस बार बजट में पहली बार 150 प्रशिक्षण संस्थान खोलने का प्रावधान किया गया है, जो निश्चित तौर पर से रोजगार सृजन में बड़ा कदम है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि देश में चल रही आर्थिक मन्दी के पीछे कुछ वर्षो में लिए गये कड़े फैसले नही है बल्कि 1991 में शुरू की गयी उदारवादी नीतियाॅ भी उत्तरदायी है।
अध्यक्षता करते हुए स्वदेशी जागरण मंच के क्षेत्रीय बौद्धिक विचार प्रमुख अजय कुमार ने कहा कि जब तक देश का किसान समृद्ध नही होगा तबतक देश के उद्योग धन्धों में भी जान नही आयेगी। भारत में मौजूद युवा शक्ति को बजट के माध्यम से और सशक्त बनाने की आवश्यकता है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि भारत में आर्थिक जनतंत्र की जरूरत है तभी 5 ट्रिलीयन की अर्थव्यवस्था का दृश्य साकार हो पायेगा। पैनल परिचर्चा में विद्वतजनों ने छात्र- छात्राओं की बजट सम्बन्धी जिज्ञासाओं का भी समाधान किया।

The Placement Cell plays a crucial role in locating job opportunities for Under Graduates and Post Graduates passing out from the college by keeping in touch with reputed firms and industrial establishments. The Placement Cell operates round the year to facilitate contacts between companies and graduates. The number of students placed through the campus interviews is continuously rising. On invitation, many reputed industries visit the institute to conduct interviews.We have been successful in maintaining our high placement statistics over the years and the fact that our students bear the recession blues with record breaking placements itself is a testimony to our quality. Our ingenious alumnae have set new standards in the corporate world through their estimable contributions and it is my firm conviction that we will continue that legacy in the years to come.The Placement Cell organizes career guidance programmes for all the students starting from first year. The cell arranges training programmes like Mock Interviews, Group Discussions, Communication Skills Workshop etc and it also organizes Public Sector Exam Training for students who are interested to join Government Sectors.
In the said webinars all the teachers gave their view on how we can make best utilization of available time and divide our time for a productive output . The session was organized by students of MA final year – Shashank Dwivedi and Sumit Jha and Dr Anoop Mishra , Dr Mayank Kumar Singh , Dr Parul Jain, Dr Ahuti Singh and Dr Siddhartha Singh were the speakers for the session.
