Greetings and a warm welcome to the National Cadet Corps (NCC) page of DAV PG College, Varanasi. We take immense pride in introducing you to our NCC unit, where we strive to cultivate leadership, patriotism, and character among our students.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a voluntary youth organization in India that aims to develop leadership, discipline, and patriotism among young people. With a motto of “Unity and Discipline,” the NCC has been instrumental in shaping the youth of the nation and contributing to their personal and professional growth. It was established in 1948 under the Ministry of Defense and is open to students in schools and colleges across the country. The NCC has three branches: the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The National Cadet Corps is not just an extracurricular activity; it’s a journey of self-discovery, growth, and service.

About NCC unit of DAV PG College, Varanasi:

 NCC unit of DAV PG College (5/89 UP BN) is an excellent platform for students that provides a variety of chances and effectively promotes the NCC’s objectives. NCC unit of this college was re-established in the academic year 2005 by 89 UP  BN NCC Banaras Hindu University. Currently the unit has an enrolled strength of 55 cadets (one platoon SD and SW both) and major (Prof.) Satya Gopal Jee is acting as the NCC officer. In this unit NCC cadets are trained on Drill, weapon drill, weapon training, firing, common subject of NCC and specialized subject of army. Institutional training is conducted by ANO and PI staff within the college at the playground of DAV PG college as per the Block training program.

Every academic year 30 parades (Each parade of 2 hrs. each) are conducted according of the Block Training program prepared by ANO after the approval by the Commanding officer of the 89 UP BN NCC BHU to nurture cadets. This training forms, the core of NCC activities and aim to instill values likes discipline, leadership and patriotism while developing basic military skills and knowledge. The training syllabus is divided in to common subject and service subjects with the ratio of 70:30 respectively. Senior Division /Wing (SD/SW) training is for three years

The training in corporates theoretical, practical exercise and camp training with an emphasis hand-on experiences institutional training is conducted during the educational institution It covers a wide range of subjects including drill, weapon handling, physical fitness and map reading. It encourages cadets to participate in various activities throughout the year which includes attending various prestigious national and international camps and parades like Youth Exchange Programme (YEP), Republic Day Parade Camp (RDC), Thal Sainik Camp (TSC), All India Trekking Camp, National Integration Camp (NIC), Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)/Annual Training Camp (ATC), Para Sailing/Slithering Camp, Rock Climbing Camp, Advance Leadership Camp (ALC), Blood Donation Camp etc.

The NCC cadets of 5/8 UP BN DAVPG College participate in various awareness rallies to educate the public on important social issues. These rallies often focus on themes like anti-drug campaign, environmental awareness and promoting national integrity. NCC cadets are actively involved in community development, participating in activities like tree plantation, disaster relief, Swachh Bharat, AIDS awareness, Road safety awareness, mental health awareness etc.

The cadets completed their physical examination, written examination, and interview to gain admission to NCC. NCC at DAV PG College is dedicated to providing students with a platform to develop essential life skills that go beyond academics. Our focus is on instilling qualities such as discipline, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility towards the nation.
