INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC) INTRODUCTION
As per the Guidelines of NAAC, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been set up in DAV (PG) College, Varanasi to realise the goals of academic quality enhancement and its sustenance and also provide holistic academic excellence.
The IQAC in the College has been set up with the main objective to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve academic and administrative performance of the college. The IQAC of the college works towards the development and application of quality benchmarks for different academic and administrative activities of the college helps in creation of a learner-centric environment and has made arrangements for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders. In addition, the IQAC has made earnest efforts to develop quality culture, as also tried to document various programmes and activities of the college. Towards these ends, the IQAC has tried to evolve necessary mechanisms and procedures so as to ensure timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial task of the college. The IQAC of the College has also been making suitable suggestions towards proper maintenance and allocation of support services and structure.
Thus, the IQAC of DAV (PG) College has been making earnest efforts to heighten the level of clarity and focus towards quality enhancement, ensure coordination among different activities of the college, work towards quality change in the college and develop methodologies for internal communication, as also proper documentation of different activities of the college.
The primary aim of IQAC is
a) To ensure implementation of teaching, learning and evaluation processes with the aim of achieving higher standards.
b) To develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.
c) To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.
d) To enhance the research and developmental activities of the college by encouraging the faculty for research, publications, paper presentations and participation in international/national/regional workshops, conferences and symposia.
e) IQAC motivates students and other stake-holders to provide feedback on curriculum and teaching & learning process which are used for quality improvement.
IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for
a) Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks;
b) The relevance and quality of academic and research programmes;
c) Equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society;
d) Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning;
e) Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and services;
Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:
a) Development and application of quality parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution;
b) Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process;
c) Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes;
d) Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education;
e) Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement;
f) Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices;
g) Development of Quality Culture in the institution;
h) Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC.
IQAC will facilitate / contribute
a) Ensure heightened level of clarity and focus in institutional functioning towards quality enhancement;
b) Ensure internalization of the quality culture;
c) Ensure enhancement and coordination among various activities of the institution and institutionalize all good practices;
d) Provide a sound basis for decision-making to improve institutional functioning;
e) Act as a dynamic system for quality changes in college;
f) Build an organised methodology of documentation and internal communication.
